The Unity Centre believes no-one should be in detention. But legally, nobody who has experienced torture (including rape, sexual violence and kidnap) can be detained. If you are a rape victim, a torture victim or have serious medical issues then you should ask for a ‘Rule 35 Medical Report’ from the detention centre staff. It is your right to demand this. This medical report may make the detention centre releases you and by law it will become a part of your existing or your new asylum claim. There is more information about Rule 35 Report here.
