Realease Syed!

Tomorrow Syed from Bengal has a bail hearing to be released from Harmondsworth IRC.

He submitted a fresh claim based on his sexuality to the Home Office at the end of November, but they have not mentioned this in the bail hearing.  They have however mentioned a flight they have supposedly booked for him in January, which is unlawful if they have really done so when he has a claim outstanding.

The Home Office regularly makes false claims and twists the truth in order to frustrate bail opportunities.  In Syed’s case this is particularly barbaric.  He has learning disabilities in addition to mental health problems, and there are a lot of barriers to him being properly heard and supported.

We are calling on the bail court to act with humanity and reason and release Syed to where he can get the care he needs and have a fair hearing in his case.
