PRESS RELEASE AND CALL TO URGENT ACTION: CHARTER FLIGHT TO PAKISTAN

There is a charter flight due to fly at 23:30 on the 17TH MAY. This charter flight has been organised by the Home Office, and has been accepted by the Pakistan government. It is flying from an unknown location within the UK.

Charter flights are inhumane and they actively destroy the lives of those being removed and deported, as well as their potential family lives. It is not unusual for someone with an ongoing case to be on one of these charter flights. Charter flights are used to essentially dispose of people who have very valid reasons to stay in the UK, people who are in immediate danger if they are removed or deported back to their home country. They are also prone to choosing people who seem to be more vulnerable to be on the charter flight, such as the sick and the elderly. In the case of this flight, a man who does not wish to be named fought tuberculosis in the last two years and since then is not fit to work and is extremely prone to bad health.

The flights themselves cost the UK an immense amount of money- £250,000 to be exact. The flights also tend to be overcrowded, leaving people in even more dangerous whilst on the flight. They also always have backup detainees for flights- this means that even if someone is ruled as too sick to fly or someone’s case advances, they are likely to always make sure that the flight is as full as possible.

Based on previous charter flights we have good reason to believe that the airline of the charter flight is Titan Airways.
