Rabah Hamoud is a 39 year old single man from Algeria who came to the UK in January 2001 to claim asylum after he had problems with the military authorities following the disappearance of his father. Rabah is facing forcible removal from teh UK on Monday morning, please visit here for more information and model letters that can be sent on his behalf.

Trhas Tesfay belongs to Glasgow!

Trhas from Eritrea arrived in the UK to join her husband in May this year. She spent one night with her husband Aron who stays in Glasgow. The next day she went for her screening interview in Liverpool and was detained and put on the super-fast track. Before coming to the UK she first arrived in Italy before finding out here her husband was living.

Her asylum case has been refused and she is now facing a “Dublin Convention” third country removal to Italy on Tuesday 13^th July.

Trhas and Aron urgently need you to fax the Home Office to urge them to unite this family and allow Trhas to be released so she can be reunited with her husband.

Volunteers & donations of food wanted!

Volunteers needed!

We’re looking for donations of food and volunteers to help in our new weekly cafe for destitute asylum seekers

From Tuesday 6th July we will be preparing a meal and giving out free food for destiute asylum seekers and those recieving Section 4 support in Lansdowne Church Hall on Great Western Road (near Solly’s African shop and Kelvinbridge underground station.)

UNITY Centre Benefit Ceilidh

Once a year those lovely people in the Ceilidh Collective people in Edinburgh hold a brilliant party for Unity in Edinburgh. Last year it raised almost £1000 for the centre and we took twenty people through from Glasgow to join the fun….

[A ‘Ceilidh (pronounced “Kay-Lee”) is a traditional Scottish social gathering with traditional music, dancing, and storytelling.]

It’s the time of year for another Ceilidh to raise money for the Unity Centre - This year the money will go towards buying a new minibus for the Centre. This year it wil be on Saturday 17trh April in the Rudolf Steiner School at 60 Spylaw Road, Edinburgh. More info here.
